.elearning
During the day I get paid to work as a 'Technical Developer' for the eLearning wing of the publishing wing of a large, professional education body. Personally, I don't do much in the way of actual eLearning generation although I like to think I possess a good understanding of learner interaction and retention, question models and good cognitive design. My role is rather the delivery of our content - be that Learning Management Systems like Moodle and Blackboard, local intranets and bespoke methods or developing and extending the tools used for creation of our content. And there's a fair bit of customer support (not the easiest of things when one of your main technologies is Authorware - just officially discontinued by Adobe). Basically it's a mixed bag with enough coding and R&D to keep me happy.
LMS Glossary of Terms
I have recently been training up some of my colleagues in the Dark Art of Learning Management Systems (such as Moodle) which often deliver our products on and felt this brief glossary on common LMS/VLE terms could be use to others as well. A lot of it was quite specific to our organisation and so has been removed but the remainder should still make a worthwhile reference for anyone trying to get their heads around LMS and VLEs.
